Trump Says Planned Strikes on Iran Halted as Diplomatic Efforts Continue
*Washington, D.C.* — U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that planned military strikes against Iran have been cancelled, provided that a diplomatic agreement with Tehran is reached swiftly.
In a statement shared on his social media platform, Trump said he had been urged by Iran and several Middle Eastern countries to postpone any military action, claiming that the framework of a potential agreement had already been established. He did not provide additional details regarding the proposed deal or identify the countries involved.
The announcement follows recent reports suggesting that the United States and Israel were considering a new wave of military strikes targeting Iran, including attacks on key energy infrastructure.
Trump has previously issued strong warnings toward Iran before later indicating that diplomatic negotiations remained an option. As of now, Iranian authorities have not confirmed requesting renewed talks or agreeing to any framework aimed at ending the conflict that began following U.S. and Israeli military strikes on February 28.
Meanwhile, Iran's Acting Defence Minister, Majid Ibn al-Reza, said on Sunday that Tehran considers every threat from its adversaries to be "real and credible," even when such statements may be intended as psychological pressure.
"We will neither be caught off guard nor remain passive," the minister said, reaffirming Iran's readiness to respond to any potential military action.
The heightened rhetoric comes amid growing regional tensions and reports that Washington and Tel Aviv have discussed a possible large-scale bombing campaign focused on Iran's energy infrastructure. According to officials familiar with the matter, the proposal was reviewed during a recent cabinet meeting.
